Our Nearest Neighbor Size and Medium:17x40 on ready-to-hang aluminumThe moon is the brightest object in the night sky and our Earth's nearest neighbor. We have, as a species, been fascinated by it for millennia, and I am no exception. Rising here at about 80 percent full, it crested Montana's Absaroka Beartooth, shining during early evening over a mix of burned forest and high meadows. To show it in proper perspective, I shot at 105mm, using more than 100 images to form this panorama. I love the black and white feel,

allowing time to smooth the surface and show the true beauty of the sky's reflection while really showing the flow of water coming around this large bend

one of America's most iconic waterfalls

even with a heavy pack and during the middle of the night

April day when

in places like Yellowstone National Park

and have clear wings with colorful bodies

It can also be paired with Celestial Rainbow

and larkspur show off a striking array of color at the edge of a forest of Douglas fir in Montana's Pryor Mountains

This is a striking capture that truly approximates what my eye took in during this late afternoon
